Control pollution to protect our communities.
Rhode Island’s reliance on fossil fuels creates local public health and infrastructure emergencies including increased asthma rates, illnesses transmitted by ticks and mosquitoes, and flood or storm damage. Fossil fuel pollution threatens Rhode Island’s ocean, bay, and coastlines and disproportionately impacts vulnerable residents of Rhode Island. We must act to reduce pollution to protect our vibrant tourism and marine industries and promote safer, healthier communities.

Keep our commitment to our children and the Paris Climate Agreement.
Rhode Island must make the investments we need to secure energy independence and move toward the economy of the future. Reliance on out-of-state fossil fuels leads to volatility and price hikes, so by supporting energy efficiency programs and renewables, we lower energy costs for RI families and businesses.

Invest in the Rhode Island economy.
Rhode Island spends over $3 billion every year on out-of-state fossil fuels. Investing in renewable energy, energy efficiency, and resiliency puts this money to work in our state, employing Rhode Islanders and creating jobs across the economy: from building trades, health care, and retail to the green energy economy. Strong climate action will support the clean energy industry--one of the fastest growing sectors of the Rhode Island economy--by reinvesting money in renewable energy, green infrastructure, and good clean energy jobs.
